Designing and prototyping of the electronic candle housing
Design & idea
Our client has developed its own flame-realistic electronic candle and needed a custom housing design and prototype.
From concept to the prototype in just few days
We have prepared a few different concepts and than printed out the selected final version. The prototype had a wall thickness of 1 mm which enabled us to achieve the transparency needed to test how the light of the flame is reflected on the housing. The housing of the candle has been impregnated with cyanoacrylate to assure a rigid structure ready for snap-fit test of the cover. Surface of the housing has than been polished and colored red to achieve a realistic look. The complete process from printing to painting and polishing has only taken two days, which was crucial for testing the product before the production tools were machined.
