The engine of the 1000 hp motor boat needs a lot of air. That is the reason why the air intake cover takes more space than one might think. And it is extremely difficult to predict how the metal will form when it is stretching for almost two meters in length. Those were the main challenges of the Air intake covers project.

3D scanning in use
We had used a 3D scanning technique to get an exact form of the boat. According to the 3D shape of the boat we started to form the sheet metal.  

Solution for manufacturing and production
Another important question needed to be answered: how to mount the original two-meter long cover onto the boat? Because of its size it was very impractical to transport (incautious loading could resould in warping) and difficult to fit on the boat accurately. That is why we had come up with an idea to split it in half and make two parts instead of one. It proved to be easier to manufacture and even easier to mount on to the boat.
