Road Sweeper
How to turn a road sweeping machine into a race car? Besides the new design a bigger trash container was necessary. This would increase the sweeping mileage and bring an advantage to the market.
Setting the goals
Our clients have decided to develop a new type of road cleaning mashine. They have already been present on the market with the current design. But to get an adventage over the competition they have decided to put their product on the higher level. High above theChinise mass production.
Performance demands
We have put all our efforts to come up with an idea which would be unique to the market. We have put our thinking cap on and came up with a different improvements. The main setback of the old construction was a small trash container. We have managed to enlarge it for almost 90% and mantained same outside dimensions of the mashine. We have changed container opening and redisned the water container to enrease the milege between refills.
Dimension constrains
Width, heigth and length depend on the type of the machine pushing the sweeper. It can be connected to different types of machines. With this we have increased the usability.
Geometry concept
All the components which make the machine work (hydraulic motor, hydraulic cilinders) were incorporated inside the body of the sweeper so they are not exposed to any damages in case of hitting and hard use.
Design
We wanted the sweeper to have a specific recognisable design. So we have joined functionality and attractive racing car-like shape to create a new breed of road sweepers. Why not make a tough mashine look good?
Thinking of production
When designing the sweeper we have kept in mind the importance of simple design for the needs of production. Complexity of the design increases the cost for item produced, possibility of error and decrases the quilty.
Structural analysis
To optimise the sweeper construction, minimise the weight and keep the rigidness of the mashine we needed to pinpoint it's week spots. To identify which parts are under gratest stress we performed a series of structural tests and calculations.
Final optimization and testing
As first prototypes were built and put on the road we could measure their performance. It has turned out that most impressive was the effect of the agresive shape. According to expectations the design had launched the new sweeper high above its competition and set new guidelines in the industry.
